Mooresville, AL [May 30, 2015]- North Alabama Kayak Anglers (NAKA) host another winning kayak fishing tournament. Wheeler Lake is in the books. 45 anglers braved the crocs and a re-scheduled event to participate in the second stop of the 2015 NAKA Tournament Trail. Torrential rains earlier in the week made a challenging fishery even more difficult, but Jasen Albright came to play and went home with the tournament win as well as BigBass.
The tournament kicked off with a 5:30 am captains meeting and several anglers were on fish right away. Early keepers were caught on topwater frogs and spinnerbaits. Catfish and Drum were caught on crankbaits………….
As the time for weigh in approached, winds picked up and stomachs began to growl so several participants ditched the water early and went to Old Greenbrier early to lick their wounds and down some comfort food.
The tournament concluded with the virtual weigh in and awards ceremony. Almost $1100 in cash and several hundred dollars in prized were awarded to participating anglers. Jasen Albright took home the win with a NAKA record, a virtual stringer of 62”. He was followed by Joshua Smith at 49.25”, Daniel Sanders at 46”, Kelly Rabb at 43.75”, and Grant Talbert at 43.75”. Cash prizes were awarded all the way to 9th place. The tournament BigBass caught by Jasen Albright was 21.75”.
